I don't think I wrote on my blog when we got him, so I'll back-up a couple steps. We adopted the cutest little orange kitten at the beginning of February and named him Joey. We were told when we got him that there was a two week return policy of things didn't work out. Things were a little hairy for the first week or so - lots of hissing and growling coming from Rocky, but we figured he's chill out eventually. Of course, we gave it more than 2 weeks.
Well, 2 months later, Rocky and Joey were co-existing, though not always peacefully and my allergies were ever present. We really didn't want to have to find a new home for Joey, but thought it would be better for everyone if we did. I sent out an e-mail to everyone at work and within a couple of days, one of out cat loving managers came to me and asked if we still had him. She called me yesterday and asked if she and her husband could come and look at Joey; stupid - not-prepared-to-give-her-kitten-away ME thought she would just LOOK and then come back the next day to take him if she wanted him....to kind of give us a "cooling off period."
Well, she took him. Right then and there. She looked at him for about 15 minutes and then said to her husband, "Well, let's take him home." Now, I feel heartbroken and am wondering if we should have given it more time. He is the sweetest little cat and really balanced Rocky out. Hmm...We did give HER a 2 week return policy too, I wonder if the same goes for us?
Eeeek...

Thank-You Swimco!

After having a completely traumatizing experience shopping for a bathing suit Monday night (Sears, Sport Check...) we decided to go for round two tonight. I had tried on a two piece halter & skirt combo that I was almost lukewarm about at Sears, but I just couldn't sell myself on it; especially for $110.00!
What I ended up getting was a halter top & shorts combo. The halter has a floral beachy design that's black, blue and white and the shorts are similar to biking shorts - just shorter - and are black. This bathing suit makes me feel so good, which means a lot in a bathing suit. It's definitely the right one for me because I LIKED myself in it, which is huge; not too many wobbly bits either.
I also got a pair of prescription sunglasses tonight - they're a really nice dark blue and they look hot. Maybe I'll take a picture or this whole ensemble when we're in Jamaica :).
That's my story for now - I think I'm good to go for Jamaica!

So, we decided to make a trip to Winners tonight, which I've never really liked, but thought we might find some different things there...
Low and behold, I found a really cute brown polo shirt and a pair of khaki green Calvin Klein walking shorts. The 2 pieces look really nice together and I'll be able to mix and match them with the other summer clothes that I recently bought; yay me. I LOVE the shorts, they go right to my knee and are actually really slimming.
AND...the best part.....
They're a size 4! This is my second or third size four, so I think I am now a solid 4/6. I like the sound of that, but my wallet is hating me for it at the moment. I would really like to tone up, but I think I may hold off on that for a couple of months, just to give my clothing budget a breather...
That's all for now, Happy Easter!

From nowhere lol. I'm just not into the blogging these days; I still like to read everyone else's blog, but I just don't feel like I have anything to say sometimes.
We're going to Negril, Jamaica on the 6th of May for our honeymoon - we'll be gone for a week and are REALLY excited for it. Neither of us have been on a big vacation before, so we're looking forward to it. I've been buying t-shirts and capris every payday to wear while we're down there because nothing from last summer fits...yay...and nay lol. It's funny how you sometimes think that the size large shirt will still look "okay" after you lose 40 pounds; it doesn't even come close to looking okay.
So, I have 3 pairs of capris and probably a weeks worth of new, bright and cheery t-shirts from Ricki's; they definitely look like clothes that you'd wear in Jamaica. As for the scale, my last weigh in was 128.4. I've started eating more calories (milk and full fat yogurt etc...) because I can't afford to be buying new clothes every month when I go down a size. It boggles my mind how I can eat 1500-2000 calories a day and still lose weight..hmph.
I also bought some of that Bio-Oil stuff that Shoppers Drug Mart just started selling, it's supposed to be really good for new & old stretch marks (lets hope!!) and dry skin. It's not horribly overpriced either - $10.00 for a 2 ounce bottle. I'll keep you posted.
How is everyone??

That's what I looked like today. I wore my charcoal suit to work today with a long sleeved red shirt underneath and I just couldn't shake the "I'm swimming in this friggin' suit" feeling all day. People tell me this is an awesome problem to have, and it IS, as long as you can fit into the lower size!
I'm going to go shopping in the next couple of days and try on a few different cuts of dress pants. I think the only reason that the 6's that I have now don;t fit, is because the waist is freakishly low. The zipper is only an inch long for crying out loud lol.
Here's my food day:
Mini Wheats
Coffee
1 cup potato soup
small cheese biscuit
1 cup grapes
I'm thinking about a 3 egg omelet for supper tonight and some kind of snack later...maybe I'll make muffins or banana bread :).
Hope everyone had a great day!

Happy Monday
Monday, January 28, 2008
My week went pretty well. I ate well, for the most part and worked out twice; it's a start, right?
I gave in to some sun chips on Saturday night - half a bag to be exact. I REALLY wanted them, and not just a 100 calorie pack of them! so I let myself dig into a big bag. I think sometimes I just need to do that, without thinking how many points or calories I'm eating; it gets old after a while. I probably won't do that again for months.
Despite the sun chips, I weighed in this morning at 132.6, down 1.4 from last week! I was pretty excited about that - I'm soooo close to the 120's :).

Day 3...Goin' Strong...
Thursday, January 24, 2008
I can feel my size 8 hips and butt morphine into 6's; even though the scale had me up a couple of pounds this morning, lol. I'm still debating about exchanging the size 6 pants for 8's, just so I can wear them NOW, but i'll feel better in the end if I push myself..
Here's how my day looked:
Oatmeal - 180
Coffee - 70
Turkey Soup - 120
Saltines - 45
carrots - meh
pudding - 150
home made pizza w/lotsa veggies & minimal cheese - we'll call it 650
No exercise today, but I did do a 45 min weights video yesterday :). I'm thinking about a glass of wine later or maybe a lindt truffle...

Finally...Getting my butt in gear
Tuesday, January 22, 2008
Long time no post. Things Have been pretty hairy at work for the last few weeks, so I switched my focus to *trying* to relax and get enough sleep. Things seem to be back on an even keel now, thank god.
So, I bought a size 6 suit a week or so ago; the blazer fits great, but I have to be veeeerrrry careful pulling the pants over my no-so size 6ish hips and ass. I decided today that those pants are never going to fit unless I start being more careful about what I'm eating and start getting serious about the exercise; I haven't exercised - intentionally - in at least 2 months.
Here's how my day looked:
oatmeal
small plate of fruit
lean pocket
carrots
pudding cup
stew - 1 1/2 cups
flax pita w/ cheese slice
exercise: 25 mins on the bike
My current measurements are:
Bust - 35
Waist - 29
Hips - 39
Weight: 134.0
I'd like to get my waist down to 26-27 and my hips to 36-37 - just enough to comfortably fit a size 6...I don't want to be "between" anymore sizes; it's annoying!

The day after Boxing Day...
Thursday, December 27, 2007

How was everyone's Christmas? Mine was awesome, Calvin and I definitely got spoiled. My Mom got us a Kitchen Aid stand up mixer and a digital picture frame, I'm really excited to get using both of those things. I also got some gift cards to Ricki's, which I will use when I go down another size. I bought a few button down shirts at Ricki's Boxing Day sale - size 8 - and was oh so happy to find that they were too big! Yaaaay!
We've decided that we're going to start planning a trip to Jamaica (shown above) sometime in May. So, I'm going to start kicking my butt onto the bike/elliptical to hopefully try and lose 10-15 pounds by then...and tone, of course.
I don;t have much else to say - I'm going to try to post more when I'm back on the weight loss wagon :).

Who's ready for Christmas?
Tuesday, December 18, 2007
I am! I got tons of stuff done at work today, but I was soooo not in work mode.
Everybody is gearing down to go on holidays, including me - even though I only get a few days off; I'm ready. I'm trying to take as many appointments and make as many phone calls as I can, to compensate for the fact that most of next week is a write off. So far, so good.
I had an awesome weigh in this morning: 137.2! I'm not too concerned about the scale right now, other than trying not to gain the obligatory 5-10 pounds that everyone else seems to think you need to put on over the holidays. I was happy to see that I was down a bit from the lats time I weighed - my focus in the new year will be toning up. I think that getting on the elliptical and doing weights will make more of a difference than if I were to drop the last 10 by osmosis...
How's everyone else??? Hopefully avoiding all the treat baskets....

Not a bad trade...
Monday, December 10, 2007
I don't know how the rest of you get your housework done, but it's a real challenge for me. I was going to wash floors and clean some stuff up on Saturday night, but Calvin ended up not having to go to work, so I did nothing. So I sat here this morning, pondering whether or not I wanted to wash the floors - then my Mom called....
She's getting better with using her computer, but there's still a few things that she's not too sure about. Sooooo...she came over with some fancy paper and asked if I could help her write her Christmas letter if she washed my floors. Haha...no contest. I wrote the letter, no questions asked. I really need to come up with a system to make sure that the nitty gritty things get done every week.
I'm trying to upload some wedding pictures, but blogger won't let me, I'll try again later :).

I was spoiled...rotten
Friday, December 7, 2007
I had an awesome birthday. Calvin made me breakfast in bed before I went to work, which was accompanied by some birthday cards that he'd hidden from me over the last week. He also sent a dozen long stemmed roses to work; I can literally stop to smell the roses while I work now :).
I got some GC's & money to shop for new clothes, and a new outfit from my Mom (a size small sweater & size 8 pants.) I'm not shy anymore, I'll gladly tell anyone what size I'm wearing lol. Also got lots of Body Shop stuff & a "mini" bunt cake pan; I wanted that, but I'm not sure when I'll get to making mini bunt cakes.
I've decided that I'm taking steamed broccoli & cauliflower to the pot luck on Wednesday, it's easy and better than canned veggies. Hopefully my bank account is still alive by the end of the week; there are a bunch of things going on at work and they all require money (secret Santa, food hamper, Christmas gift for boss..etc) gotta love that eh?
My weight is holding steady, hopefully I'll be able to get back into exercise mode soon - I think that'll help me to feel better and get rid of a few more pounds.

Secret Santa & Pot Luck
Tuesday, December 4, 2007
As usual, I'm doing more reading than posting...but I actually have a reason to post tonight.
We're doing a Secret Santa at work, and our limit is $10. I want to be creative and get something neat for my mid-thirties gal...but I'm stuck for ideas. She's into healthy living and an organic diet; hmm.
We're having our usual Christmas dinner at work next week, I got signed up for vegetables. Would you be boring and take canned corn, would you do a casserole, or maybe a veggie tray? I don't want to spend a million dollars, but don't want to be too cheap either.
My birthday is on Tuesday, the big 2-2 lol...

Long time, no post!

Wow, am I ever lazy - blogger-wise.
Work has been keeping me really busy lately, I've been having to stay late quite a bit, just to get my work done; can't win, either I'm bored out of my skull, or I'm crazy busy. I've also been training someone for the last 6 weeks, so that's starting to get to me, I'm definitely not as productive/efficient as I normally would be.
Good news: I got my $150 prize from my girls at work - woohoo! My suit is finally paid for....
Thankfully, my suit is fitting a lot better now too; my last weigh in was a svelte 138! I haven't been 130 anything for about 4 years...THAT was a really great feeling, even better than when I hit the 140's. 138 is also 30 pounds lost for me, which feels like a pretty freakin' good too!
That's about all I have to say for now, I'm going to go and update my virtual model :).

Got Balls?
Monday, November 5, 2007
Don't want to offend anyone out in blogland, but I sure don't have any. Why, you might ask? Because we had the final weigh in for our work challenge a month ago, and I still don't have my money yet!
I have e-mailed both of the girls once, in addition to asking them once in person when they were gonna pony up. Nothing. One of the girls is always broke, and the other really doesn't have a reason for not paying, I think she's just oblivious to the fact that I actually expect to be paid.
This is starting to upset me, because if the tables were turned, they would have had their money from me as soon as they stepped off the scale for the last time; I just don't understand why people would buy into a bet that they can't buy themselves out of if they lose; you should never be too confident :).
Any ideas on how I can get these two to pay up?

Back to work...
Thursday, November 1, 2007
The days leading up to my return to work were agonizing, I DID NOT want to go back; I want to retire :P. Once I got back to work, everything was fine, a couple of the girls in the branch decorated my office with streamers, wedding bells, and balloons, I've left them up all week. The girls had also planned a pot luck breakfast for the morning that I came back, which was awesome, everybody pretended that they didn't have a bazillion things to do and had breakfast together.
Everybody in the branch put in some money and got a few gifts too, it was like a wedding shower! They got us a king sized light blue serasoft blanket (sooooo soft!), some hand towels and face clothes to finish our set, and some cute Christmas candle holders. How nice is that? On the days that I hate my job and want to run away, I'll just have to remember what awesome people I work with, that was too sweet of them.
Still no professional pictures yet, but they will be posted when we get them!

Quick Post
Thursday, October 18, 2007
Just wanted to give a quick update, I've been so terrible for going AWOL lately.
The wedding is on Saturday, My Aunt from Cornwall, Ontario Arrived yesterday, and My Cousin from Victoria, BC gets in tomorrow.
Things are a wee bit nuts, we bought our new car yesterday, we ended up with a 2008 Mazda 3 GT. It's the best color, in my opinion, Phantom Blue Mica. It's awesome, we've taken everyone for a spin in it already, I'm so glad we were semi prepared to buy a new car, although the timing could have been better lol.
I can imagine that we'll have to replace our second car within a year or so, it's getting up there in age too - 1994 Cavalier.
I'm still reading all of your blogs, I promise, I'm just not commenting all that much right now.

Oh.My.God.

Question: What are the chances that two cars would crap out on the same day?
Answer: 100%
Yesterday on the way to my Mom's house for turkey dinner, Calvin's car started smoking; still not sure what's wrong with it, it's parked for now.
Calvin had to work 2 hours out of town today, so he took my car; 1/2 an hour out of town, he lost all power and heat. Diagnosis: Alternator.
$400 later, my car has a new alternator, and we're shopping for a 2nd vehicle. We didn't really want to buy the new car yet, but I think we should before winter. So, my partner at the bank is trying to work me out a deal with the Mazda dealership; I'll keep you posted.
I also felt kind of uncomfortable today in my new suit. The blazer was fine, but the pants are a bit tight around the waist. I'm thinking of 3 possibilities:
- PMS
- I don't know how real clothes fit because all of my others hang off of me like limp dishrags
- I need a size 9
I dunno. lol.
Cheers!

Wow, was I ever MIA
Monday, October 8, 2007
I have no excuse, I've just been paying less attention to blogland and getting more sleep lol. This is a good things post, I'll make is short and sweet:
- I was 143 this morning
- I won the work challenge - still waiting for my money!
- I bought a new suit yesterday, the TOP and BOTTOM were an 8
- 12 days until the wedding
I'm still in shock about the suit. Granted, all of my size 10 stuff is hanging off of me, but I never would have thought that I could wear a size 8 jacket. The only reason why I took an 8 to the change room and not a 10, was because they didn't have a 10 lol. I'm extremely happy about this; one of my clothing goals was to be an 8 in dress clothes...scratch that, maybe I'll be a 6, I still have some weight to lose :).
Happy Turkey Day!
