Apparently not.
I bought a pair of shoes for the wedding from Sterling Shoes at the end of June. I tried them on in the store, they seemed to fit alright, so I bought them. About a week later, I tried them on again at home and they just wouldn't stay on my feet; they would slip up every time I took a step and were just really uncomfortable.
We were in the midst of moving at the time, so I wasn't able to take them back until shortly after we moved; I'd had the shoes for about 3 weeks, no big deal, most places take things back within 30 days right? WRONG! Sterling's return policy is only 15 days, so when I tried to exchange the shoes, I was promptly told that there was nothing that could be done and that I should have read my receipt. Yes, I should have, but I'm human for crying out loud....
I left the store with these shoes, since I'm not one to cause a scene, and decided I would e-mail Sterling's customer service to try and get some help. I sent the first e-mail on the 8th of August and was told that my problem would be referred to the store manager for attention. 2 weeks went buy and I didn't hear anything, so I sent another e-mail...same thing. I really wanted to avoid going into the store and getting all huffed up, so I sent one more e-mail today and finally got a call back.
I was repeatedly told that I was way over 15 day time frame and that I should have tried to speak to the manager right off the bat because she likely would have exchanged the shoes for me. That's really fucking nice. The last thing you should do is tell a customer that "there's nothing that can be done" and that "you should have...."
We had a client at the bank a while back whose mortgage payments had been screwed up for TWENTY YEARS and we fixed the problem - I should think they should be able to help me out after 2 months, especially since I've been waiting for a response for one of those months. I'll likely never shop at Sterling again if they don't help me, the manager is supposed to call me tomorrow, so we'll see.
Jesus!
Isn't the customer ALWAYS Right?

fuckers! what happened?
Good for you for not going back and getting all huffy. It's a shitty situation, but yelling at the staff wouldn't have helped you at all...trust me :P
I hope the manager calls you and gives you some new shoes!
